In the United States, it affects more than 2.7 million people.  In people with A-fib, the heart beats irregularly and often too quickly, getting out of sync with the two lower chambers.  This irregularity can cause clotting of the blood in the heart chambers putting the individual at risk for heart attack or stroke or pulmonary thrombus if the clot breaks loose”.
